Advanced Training

Dr. Currie has 350+ hours of Continuing Education in the area of counseling and psychology along with advanced training to address behavior problems in children and adolescents. She completed 100 hours of training under Dr. Michael Yapko, a clinical psychologist and author, for Clinical Mental Health Hypnosis and continues to develop her skills through ongoing consultation and additional workshops. In addition, Dr. Currie has completed 68 hours of Early Childhood Mental Health training through Salina's Heartland Programs. 

Professional Experience

Prior to opening her own private practice in 2009, Dr. Currie was a tenure track professor of counseling at Wichita State University and served as an adjunct faculty member at Fort Hays State University, Kansas State University and Friends University. Dr. Currie has facilitated group work with male inmates at the Ellsworth Correctional Facility and completed a case study of incarcerated males participating in a canine training program. In addition, Dr. Currie worked for USD 305 in the capacity of the Director of the Alternative Middle School Program, school counselor, Alternative Middle School teacher, Beginning Teacher program coordinator, and as an At-Risk teacher and coordinator.
